Taversham’s Auctioneers are bringing £100,000 worth of Chateau Gruaud Larose to auction with vintages dating back to 1987, including a unique range of large formats, all offered directly from the cellars of the Chateau.
The 75 auction Lots, with a combined value of £100,000, form the core of their upcoming auction, offered exclusively online through Taversham’s bespoke bidding platform and mobile apps.
Bidding opens on Monday 11th March and closes on Sunday 23rd March.
Taversham’s was launched in 2018 as one of the UK’s only dedicated Fine Wine auctioneers. Their auctions capitalise on an auction market that’s increasingly focused online, accessed via a modern web platform or through their simple to use, highly featured mobile apps for iOS or Android.
The Gruaud Larose motto, featured in the crest on their front label is “The King of Wines, the Wine of Kings” and rightly so, as their wines are highly regarded by wine critics worldwide. Classified as a Second Growth Grand Cru Classé, the vineyards are in the heart of the Saint Julien, on Bordeaux’s Left Bank. Their wines are structured and long-lived with a defining minerality and herbaceous character. According to the Union Des Grands Crus de Bordeaux, “Château Gruaud Larose is one of the most historic estates in the Médoc. Its size has hardly changed through the centuries and today deserves its second growth status in the 1855 classification more than ever.”
Taversham’s is the vision of Alexander Nelson-Roberts, owner of Corkr Fine Wines, and descendant of the John E Fells family. With over 20 years of experience in the world of Fine Wine, Nelson-Roberts explains, “There was clearly a gap in the market for an accessible auction house, offering a mobile optimised platform, but focussed on offering exclusively top-quality fine wines”. Taversham’s take pride in personally curating and carefully considering all wines and consignments before offering at auction.
The Gruaud Larose wines will be shipped immediately after the auction for arrival to the UK in May, many of which simply aren’t currently available on the UK Market.
